Special Events and Volunteer Coordinator

America SCORES Chicago seeks rockstar team player, with great interpersonal and communication skills who enjoys creative problem solving to build and grow this unique after school program.
Position
Responsibilities:
This position combines several key areas designed to build the success and support of America SCORES Chicago through special event management, volunteer management, development support and office logistics.
Roles:
Special Events & Development Support Manage logistics for program related special events (including SHOUT, Fall Frenzy, Community Slam, and Jamboree), including team/ coach coordination, volunteer engagement, partner involvement, etc.
Manage logistics for fundraising events (including Red Carpet Poetry Slam and SCORES Cup).
Work with the Executive Director, Education Director, and/or Director of Community Schools to develop new cultivation events and expand current events.
Work with Development Associate to ensure that all relevant supporter interaction is recorded in the database, including donations, event attendance, volunteer efforts, thank you notes and calls, and appeals.
Collaborate with affiliates in other America SCORES cities to ensure best practices in special event planning and execution Ensure appropriate acknowledgement and thank you are sent for all donations and relevant contributions to America SCORES Compile post event reports and surveys to ensure continued quality and to facilitate constituent follow-up.
Produce post-event reports as needed for the ED or Board.
Support grant efforts as needed, including grant prospecting, writing, editing and reporting.
Communications Update web site content.
Volunteer Management:
Maintain a list of active volunteers, including preferred volunteer opportunities and hours Utilize the donor database to record volunteer hours for recognition and reporting Work with the Executive Director to support the fundraising activities of the Board of Directors.
Coordinate volunteer recruitment opportunities and represent America SCORES at volunteer fairs Clerical/ Accounts Payable and Receivable:
Ensure payment of utilities and bills Submit payroll on a bi-monthly basis and track PTO Communicate across departments to plan, execute, manage and close fundraising campaigns and events, and special program events Collaborate across departments to determine and foresee needs for volunteers and interns Recruit, screen, train, engage and manage volunteers for both the program and fundraising/development areas Handle administrative responsibilities, such as accounts receivable Required Skills and Attributes:
Bachelors degree, preferably in Business, Marketing, Management, Nonprofit management, hospitality, communications or a related field.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
At least three years experience in fundraising/development, event management, business management or volunteer management capacity Ability to organize large groups of people to work together for a common cause Must present a warm and welcoming attitude toward volunteers, staff, donors, and students and families in the program Effective time management skills and fondness for punctuality Ability to manage stress and manage several projects at once Some evening and weekend hours are required as needed Excellent organizational skills and self motivation Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Powerpoint) and the Adobe Creative Suite (Indesign, photoshop, or similar).
Experience with donor database input and management (Little Green Light a plus) Demonstrated experience managing fundraising or sales goals Ability to lift and carry equipment for special events Preferred but Not Required Skills and Attributes:
Intermediate or Advanced Spanish language skills Familiarity with project management body of knowledge and techniques Experience securing event sponsorship Photography experience Graphic Design experience Background in performance, poetry, theatre or soccer Background working with youth Brian Bullington Executive Director bbullington@americascores.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
