Designs, Develops, and maintains products with embedded systems. Designs and develops software and supports hardware design for real-time control and data acquisition in embedded product platforms with diverse scope and complexity. Develops and recommends solutions to a variety of complex engineering requirements to ensure that design objectives are met, including required program scope, cost, and schedule constraints. Projects at this level are assigned to develop in-depth knowledge and skills and to build knowledge of the organization, processes, and customers. Essential functions of this role include:
o Produce software designs that meets requirements o Responsible for architecture design and implementation of software to interface with existing and future systems o Define software systems required to support Design Verification and Function Testing o Work with Electronics Developers to ensure that electrical designs meet software requirements o Study electrical designs to ensure correct use of all facilities within the software being implemented o Write source code required for completed designs o Ensure that designs, design decisions, and implementations are documented o Ensure that documents and source code files are archived in Parker's version control system o Provides technical information for review with product engineering teams applying consistent engineering practices, standards, and documentation methods (e.g., structured design process; customer design reviews). o Compiles and analyzes operation, test, and research data, develop acceptance, engineering evaluation, development and qualification/certification test plans, procedures, and reports. o Establishes goals and objectives and tracks performance required to complete projects. The ideal candidate will possess:
o Bachelor's degree (BS) in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or relevant engineering discipline. Master's degree (MS preferred). o Extensive experience in embedded software development using C o Competent in Test Driven Development (TDD), version control, and use of automation tools o Competent understanding of microcontroller systems o Strong experience in RTOS o Experience with troubleshooting tools (JTAG, SWD, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers). o Experience in low-pin-count communication buses (I2C or UART or SPI). o Excellent interpersonal skills essential to working effectively in a distributed team environment; must also be able to work with minimal supervision o Excellent English written and verbal communication skills, together with well-developed listening skills Additional desirable skills:
o Familiar with CAN/J1939, Ethernet communication o Familiar with Aurix TriCore, TM4C microcontroller families o Familiar with SVN, Jenkins - Continuous development processes, Agile (Scrum) o Experience with ISO 26262, both practical on projects and process development o A combination of hardware and software design and development expertise would serve to be of great advantage. o Knowledge of ARM architecture
Salary Range:
$80K -- $100K
Minimum Qualification
Hardware Development, Software DevelopmentEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
